Gunung Leuser NP

Gunung Leuser is a national park in north west of Sumatra. It is a wilderness area that is covered by dense jungle which is, as most other forests in Indonesia, threatened by illegal deforestation and palm oil plantations.  It provides shelter for a number of endangered species, such as the asian elephant, the sumatran rhinoceros and the sumatran tiger. A population of sumatran orangutans is living in the park as well and I was very lucky to see some of them in the wild.
